Founded by industry veterans Stuart Schreiber and David Larson, The Small Business Company brought together over six decades of combined small business expertise to educate and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. The company’s work culminated in the development of the patent-pending DARE Process, a structured, step-by-step approach designed to simplify the complex journey of starting and managing a small or home-based business. Their products—ranging from books and CDs to downloadable interactive worksheets—were marketed to over 51 million U.S. small and home-based business owners seeking clear, actionable guidance.

Mission

To provide accessible, practical, and motivational learning tools that help entrepreneurs successfully start, market, and grow their own businesses. The Small Business Company believed that with the right process, anyone could “Dare to Succeed” by turning business ideas into sustainable success stories.

Leadership

  • David Larson – Co-Founder & President
    David Larson’s entrepreneurial career spans startups, high-tech and low-tech ventures, and corporate subsidiaries. His “vital marketing” philosophy has been embraced by dozens of companies. With experience at DuPont, American Express, Gerber Scientific, and Agfa, Larson brought extensive expertise in global branding, marketing, and sales distribution.
  • Stuart Schreiber – Co-Founder & Director
    Stuart Schreiber’s diverse business management background includes retail, insurance, internet ventures, and manufacturing. His innovative, analytical approach and “outside-the-box” vision led to the creation of the DARE Process, emphasizing cost-effective and practical business strategies.
  • Terry Ostrowiak – Executive VP & Officer
    With over 36 years of experience as a coach, trainer, and mentor across 25 countries, Ostrowiak led the company’s Small Business Coaching program. A three-time recipient of the Dale Carnegie® International President’s Cup, he brought world-class coaching expertise to the company’s educational initiatives.

Project

Future Solutions partnered with The Small Business Company to develop a comprehensive suite of interactive multimedia CD-ROM presentations, including:

Each title followed a consistent, color-coded interface and featured sidebar menus with About Us, Contact Us, and Testimonials sections. The presentations incorporated audio and video guides, interactive learning paths, and fillable worksheets, allowing users to progress through the DARE Process in a dynamic, self-paced environment.

Outcome

The collaboration resulted in one of the most comprehensive and visually cohesive interactive learning series of its time. By merging Future Solutions’ multimedia design expertise with The Small Business Company’s proven entrepreneurial framework, the project delivered a rich, educational experience that engaged, informed, and empowered aspiring business owners nationwide—long before digital e-learning became mainstream.
